Learning to love a rose
I went for a walk one day and came upon a garden I’ve never seen before.
In this garden was a rose in a color that I loved. I decided then I had to have it, pictured all the ways it would brighten my home.
So from the garden to my home I took this lovely rose.
I placed it first in the kitchen and it was nice there for a day,
but I got bored, or maybe the light wasn’t right, but it just didn’t work there anymore.
So from room to room, from vase to jar, I tried to find the perfect spot to get all that I expected from this now lifeless plant.
Disappointing, just like everything else in life.
The next day, the rose finally died.
I thought back to the moment I glimpsed the flower in the garden,
and how it made me feel.
So now I know the best way to love a rose,
is let it be a rose.
Blooming where it was planted.
